Gaza story in painful pictures, senior Journalists national Conference begins

Thiruvananthapuram: Senior journalists three day national conference began here with a painful saga of Gaza in telling pictures. As the conference got to a start  in Thaicaud Bharat bhavan a Gaza special photo exhibition stole the show with an array of pictures telling the sad plight of people in that war torn starved land. Kerala Media Academy and Senior Journalist Forum jointly organised this photo exhibition paying tribute to the journalists who lost their life in the Israeli  attacks.

Minister for local self government M. B. Rajesh inaugurated the photo exhibition by lighting the lamp before the memory of 270 journalists who became martyrs in the Gaza war. Their pictures were displayed in a poster in the stage as the exhibition was a tribute to them. Media Academy chairman R. S. Babu presided over the function. Senior Journalist Forum state president Alexander Sam, General Secretary K. P. Vijayakumar, A. Madhavan, Rajaji Mathew Thomas, Saritha Varma, Schiller Stephen, P. R. Praveen, P. Musthafa and B. Jayachandran spoke on the occasion.
The pictures were about the agony and starvation of Gaza people including women and children  after war. Some depicted  their unending que for food packets, some their mass exodus to northern Gaza for safety,  the heart rending picture of a starved lean child, their run for life during Israel bombing etc.

The pictures were brought to the attention of the world by the international news agencies AP, AFP and Getti.
Another attraction of the exhibition is the award winning rare photographs of Kerala lens people. These include the rare picture of Ex prime minister Morarji Desai taking a bath in Kovalam sea, a literally burning youth in anti mandal agitation, the picture of E. M. S. Namboothirippad the first chief minister of Kerala waiting in the railway station with family on the way to swearing in, a weeping K. Karunakaran on the death of his wife etc.
