Tawi Welfare Society Organises Plantation Drive & Ration Distribution Camp on the Eve of Krishna Janmashtami

Continuing its commitment towards environmental protection, community welfare and service to humanity, Tawi Welfare Society  organised another plantation drive at Apnavan, Suray Chak, under the inspiring campaign “Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam”, on the eve of the auspicious festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami.

As part of the initiative, 60 saplings of different varieties, provided by the Social Forestry Division, Jammu, were planted at the venue. The plantation drive was inaugurated by S. Baldev Singh Ji, Vice President, Bar Association Jammu, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, by planting a sapling himself. The volunteers of Tawi Welfare Society warmly welcomed the Chief Guest on his arrival by garlanding him. The occasion also carried a strong message of “Nar Sewa, Narayan Sewa”, as the Society distributed 100 ration kits among underprivileged and needy families. The initiative was aimed at extending meaningful support to families in need and spreading the spirit of compassion and service on the sacred occasion of Janmashtami.

Welcoming the Chief Guest, Sh. Yash Paul Mangotra, General Secretary, Tawi Welfare Society, gave a detailed account of the activities and initiatives undertaken by the Society for the welfare of the community. He highlighted the organisation’s continued efforts in the fields of environmental conservation, education, healthcare, social assistance, public welfare and development of the Tawi Island area.

In his address, S. Baldev Singh Ji appreciated the dedicated efforts of the volunteers of Tawi Welfare Society and lauded the Society for undertaking meaningful initiatives for the benefit of the people. He particularly expressed his appreciation for the newly developed park at Apnavan, observing that the facility would provide a valuable recreational and green space for the local community, especially for children.

The Chief Guest further assured the Society of his full support and cooperation in its various welfare and developmental activities in the future. He appreciated the spirit of volunteerism being demonstrated by the members and encouraged them to continue working with the same dedication for the betterment of society.

The programme was conducted by Sh. Nand Kishor, Senior Member of the Society, who also proposed the vote of thanks. While expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, he specially thanked S. Baldev Singh Ji for sparing his valuable time on a holiday and for joining the Society’s programme despite the prevailing hot weather.

The programme concluded with a renewed pledge by the members and volunteers of Tawi Welfare Society to continue serving the community, protecting the environment and extending a helping hand to the needy.

The Society conveyed that celebrating Krishna Janmashtami through service, compassion and plantation was a humble effort to embody the timeless message of Lord Krishna—of duty, humanity and selfless service.
