New Delhi: The Indian men's sepak takraw team showcased an outstanding performance against strong international competitors,winning the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 test event in Tokyo.The team was specially trained by head coach Hemraj and skillfully managed by Mr. Naresh Kumar, General Secretary of the Sepak Takraw Federation of India.The gold medal-winning Indian team comprised Akash Yumman, Sandeep Kumar, Arun, Ram Kumar, Bobby Kumar, and S. Malemngamba Singh, whose collective efforts and dedication brought glory to the nation.This remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone for Indian sepak takraw,reflecting the team's growing strength and competitive stature at the Asian level.Mr. Perika Suresh,Joint Secretary, Sepak Takraw Federation of India, Mr. S.R. Prem Raj, President, South Asia Sepak Takraw Association, and Mr. Srinivasulu, President,Sepak Takraw Federation of India, expressed immense joy at the team's success.They congratulated the Indian team and extended their best wishes for the upcoming 6th South Asian Sepak Takraw Championship to be held in Colombo from February 7th to 10th, 2026. Mr. Suresh, Joint Secretary of the Sepak Takraw Federation of India, said that the sport is continuously reaching new heights of popularity. He added that the sport is becoming quite popular in the country, and a large number of young people are joining it.
