First National Executive Meeting of Senior Journalists Federation in Goa, 70 Journalists from Across the Country Participate
Panaji: Around 70 senior journalists from Kashmir to Kanyakumari have gathered in Goa to participate in the first National Executive Meeting

Panaji: Around 70 senior journalists from Kashmir to Kanyakumari have gathered in Goa to participate in the first National Executive Meeting of the Indian Senior Journalists Federation. The meeting will be inaugurated by Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Union Minister Shripad Naik will also be present at the programme being held at the Goa Science Centre.
The main objective of the meeting is to deliberate on issues related to journalists’ welfare and social security. After the inaugural session, a special panel discussion on “Social Security for Journalists” will be organised. Senior columnist and editor Seema Mustafa, Director of Information and Publicity, Goa, Deepak Bandekar, and President of the Goa Working Journalists Union, Rajtilak Naik, will speak about the need for social security for journalists and the schemes available for their welfare.
Senior journalists and representatives of journalists’ organisations from Kerala, Karnataka, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Telangana will also participate in the discussion. Federation President Sandeep Dixit and General Secretary N. Chekutty informed that this is the first offline executive meeting of the federation, as earlier monthly meetings were mostly conducted through online platforms.
Founder of the Goa Journalists Welfare Fund Board and senior journalist Gurudas Sawal, along with Suhasini Prabhugaonkar, explained how the meeting was organised in Goa. Convenor of the senior journalists’ conference Subhash Naik will initiate the proceedings of the discussion session.
On Sunday, March 15, the National Executive Meeting will formally begin in Old Goa with the hoisting of the federation flag and the lighting of a ceremonial lamp. The meeting will also discuss the federation’s constitution, administrative structure and future organisational plans.
Important topics such as strategy, artificial intelligence, digitalisation and the changing nature of journalism will also be discussed during the meeting. Senior journalists from Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Odisha, along with photographers and media representatives, are participating in the event.
During the programme, a souvenir of the Kerala Senior Journalists Federation will also be released.
